Savour new moon

GLITTERING GLORY : The APTDC's new fare, Mahtaab.

IT WAS near full moon. And the sight of the regal Qutb Shahi tombs shimmering under mahtaab's (full moon) spell is seen to be believed. Well, are you game for a real mahtaab where you can dine and savour the treat too?

You can. For, the A.P. Tourism Development Corporation Ltd laid out Mahtaab, its new mutli-cuisine restaurant, near the Qutb tombs, on Monday.

Mahtaab can seat, at a time, 50 visitors, serving lip-smacking Deccani food. Just take a peek at the menu. Hyderabadi biryani, dum ka chicken, haleem, mirchi ka salan, bagara baigan, qubani ka meetha, double ka meetha... the list never seems to end.

There's a vegetarian thali meal too. Mouth-watering and delicious... does it get any better? What more. A `chowki' dinner with entertainment fare, including ghazals, is available on holidays and Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

The ambience is perfect, reminding one of the princely peshawri.

Mahtaab has a fastfood counter and bakery too. King of the munching castle, yeah?

Mahtaab's speciality? The restaurant, constructed at a cost of Rs. 45 lakhs, offers authentic Hyderabadi food to the tourists halting at the Qutb Shahi tombs and the nearby Golconda fort.

No wonder, a fleeting touch of Shahi culture is palpable when one takes a look at the restaurant. It glorifies the Qutb Shahi architecture, giving it a sparkling feel.

And the tariff? It would be moderate and cheap, assures N. Anjaneya Reddy, Managing Director of the corporation.

Earlier, T. Srinivas Yadav, Tourism Minister, opened the restaurant. Hail moon-lit Mahtaab!
