Uff, yeh mohabbat

LOUD AND CLEAR: Well, Shashi Preetham sets the tone for `Uff' launching.

WHEN THE hearts went aflutter on the Valentine's Day, the duo of Shashi Preetham and Mast Ali unleashed a medley of masti songs from their album `Uff,' which had some fast-paced and some soft numbers.

The album has a curious mix of Persian, English and Hindi songs written by Santosh Shetty and are said to be more of `hope, expectation and ambition talking about the practical issues of life', according to the musical twosome.

Uff, made totally by the Hyderabadis, was launched in a grand style on the V-Day night at the `Beyond 2002' event held at Hotel Taj Krishna.

But, that was not before the likes of Nethra Raghuraman, Shivangi Parekh, Rahul Dev, Aryan Vaid and others vowed the crowd in their own (read ramp) style. The bizarre, ethnic, adventurous and playful clothes worn -- sometimes with cool glasses -- by the models were designed by the Sophiya College of Mumbai. With nicely-toned muscles Rahul Dev was the one who attracted maximum whistles, catcalls and applause, more than even the women models.

WACKY STUFF: Rahul Dev revels in this strange outfit.

The catwalk sequences were interspersed with energetic dances by a troupe to popular songs when Shashi Preetham and his partner could have performed during that time.

They did sing a few numbers but it was towards the end when many were feeling `ugh' over the two-hour delay in starting the programme and mosquitoes were having a field day. However,

Shashi Preetham made up for the glitches with passionate singing especially the `Hello India' number from his latest film.

The show was choreographed by Adil Khan and produced by M.W. Khan for Columbus Entertainment.
