Message with style

THE NDA'S presidential candidate, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, is receiving numerous congratulatory messages, as his victory is almost certain.

One such message that he got last week was different from the others. It was from the DMK leader, M. Karunanidhi, who penned a letter in his own way.

Mr. Kalam, in his reply, mentioned how the poet in the veteran political leader was evident in the verse, and went on to say that his relations and friends savoured the poetic flourish of Mr. Karunanidhi. His words were:

``Even the waves which now lash the Rameswaram coast rise to towering heights.''
