Peace-lovers on a new mission

Swami Sachidananda.

A former Indian Air Force officer turned seeker of truth and hard-core peace activist is at present travelling across the country to prepare a group of dedicated men and women who will take his national regeneration movement -- which he describes as India's second freedom struggle -- forward.

``I am also currently engaged in the process of preparing a directory of peace-lovers all over the country so that networking becomes possible between them,'' says Swami Sachidananda, who was here in Delhi recently to seek support for his campaign. Incidentally, he was given "Kavi Diksha'' by none other than Swami Ranganathananda, President of Ramakrishna Mission, on November 25, 2001.

For Squadron Leader N.V.John, it was a near brush with death in an air crash on July 8, 1982, that changed his life forever. This traumatic experience of encountering death at a least expected moment in his life and certain mystical experiences thereafter inspired him to give up his Air Force career and become a seeker of truth.

In the golden jubilee year of Indian independence, Swami Sachidananda along with his friends and co-workers initiated a ''National Regeneration Campaign'' under the banner of Dharma Rajya Vedi. After the year, the campaign was converted into a pilot project in Andhra Pradesh and it has now developed into an inter-religious ''National Regeneration Movement''.

``The aim of NRM is moral regeneration and national reconstruction of India through inter-religious co-operative action based on an inclusive vision and nation building programme which can be shared by all religions,'' says Swami Sachidananda. A book entitled ''National Regeneration Movement'' released on May 7 last year is serving as the basic document of the movement.

The Dharam Bharathi Foundation also plans to establish a Dharma Bharati Global Open University so that the national regeneration movement develops into a powerful socio-spiritual movement for new Indian renaissance and world peace. ''We will train and prepare a cadre of enlightened leaders for this mission and develop Dharma Rajya Vedi as an efficient and powerful organisation to achieve the aims and objectives of the Dharma Rajya movement,'' says Swami Sachidananda.
