One more star son
He was not the dream man that Bollywood was waiting for. And film critics made sure they had said enough about the bad looks and poor dressing sense, dismissing `Jumping Jack' Jeetendra's son Tusshar Kapoor as just another star kid on the block.
But Tusshar Kapoor had the last laugh, walking away with the Best Newcomer Award this year for his debut film, "Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hain''. And even if Kareena Kapoor walked away with a major part of the acclaim, Tusshar is now gearing up to take the litmus test once again for his second venture ''Kuch Dil Ne Kahaa'' with Esha Deol.
He is keeping his fingers crossed alright, but Tusshar has not forgotten the early training days that have helped him come this far. ''I remember dancing and enacting scenes in front of the mirror. But I would never dance to my father's songs because I found them very embarrassing,'' the actor says smilingly.
The family `bonding' does not end there. For those who thought Ekta Kapoor's family soaps were probably only for other families, here is what her own in-house fans have to say. ''I have never really seen ''Kyonki Ki Saas Bhi Kabhie Bahu Thi'' or ''Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki'' due to time restrictions, but yes I used to like ''Kalash'' and ''Kahin Kissi Roz'', which I used to catch up with if I was not very busy,'' he quips rather matter of factly.
Moving on from being the boy-next-door to that of a modern youth who likes to live life on his own terms, Tusshar seems to have some interesting offers at hand.
It might be mostly romantic roles that he is playing, but that seems to be hardly worrying the man. ''I guess simplicity is my strongest point. I am not really trying to go in for a change of image. At present it is simply scripts that interest me,'' says Tusshar.
