Musical chairs

A RESHUFFLE of senior IAS officers generally does not generate as much interest as it had been this time around. This was because the senior bureaucrats being changed or shifted belonged to certain key departments. And, one particular posting was certainly interesting.

This was the Principal Secretary, Health, Rachel Chatterjee, taking over as new Chairman and Managing Director of the A.P. Transco. With a formidable reputation of being a no-nonsense lady, Rachel Chatterjee has her task cut out in the key power company with the reforms at a half-way stage and the promised efficient and quality power supply at an affordable price still remaining a pipe dream to consumers.

What raised many eyebrows was the unceremonious exit of her predecessor, Ramakanth Reddy. He wasn't given any posting and was also not present to hand over charge formally to Rachel.
