A complete health, fitness, and rejuvenation facility

Ready for traditional cure...

DO SOME of the IT professionals in Bangalore work 18 hours a day? Asks C.P.Krishnan Nair, Chairman of the Leela Group of Hotels. He has a reason; the Leela Palace here has just opened The Spa, a complete health, fitness, and rejuvenation facility. With world-class staff, equipment and atmosphere.

The Spa experience is deeply rooted in history. For ages, people have yearned for a place where they can find solace from the complexities of their daily lives. They sought a retreat where mind, body and spirit can be brought into balance, and from which they can emerge invigorated and rejuvenated. There were hot springs and mineral springs in the West and public bathhouses with steam rooms in the East.

What you find at The Spa is 20,000 sq ft filled with a gymnasium, private dressing rooms for men and women, luxuriously designed whirlpool, sauna, steam and relaxation. This is combined with treatment suites, hydrotherapy rooms and a unique Ayurvedic centre. There are experienced consultants to make sure the treatment is personalised. You can get yourself massaged with a blend of oils, potions and lotions of traditional beauty and healthcare. The Spa also stocks an international product line, ESPA, which uses the highest quality organic plants known for their purity and potency. Combined with a therapeutic holistic approach, developed as for the inner self as the outer body and face. The massage therapies offered are from the West and East, and two masseurs from Thailand will be joining The Spa shortly. Each individual therapy is intended to reduce tension in the body and mind, stimulate the circulation and thus promote an overall feeling of relaxation and rejuvenation.

If you have time enough, ask for the Indian Magic, the Leela's signature massage using oils blended with Ashwagandha, Bala root and Araku herbs. There is also a 30-minute, ``Jet Lag Reliever'' to revive the body and mind of the weary traveller, with specific blends of Lavender, Ylang Ylang and sandalwood oils.

Then there are luxurious hydrotherapy baths. Such as Rani Padmini's milk bath made from rich milk protein, fragrant essential oils and sea salts. They say this blend will leave your skin smooth and silky.

The treatment is completed with a dusting of rose petal powder. More masculine sounding is the Raja Prithviraj's Calming Juniper and Geranium bath, which is said stimulate the adrenal gland and balance the body.

There are treatments for backache, beauty treatments and a host of traditional Ayurvedic treatments at the Spa. The fitness machines used are the most advanced and the prosaic treadmill and stepper become high-tech equipment here. Refreshments are not forgotten and there is a fully equipped juice bar.
