Story fest

IF it's hard surviving despite dollars and mergers, how much more difficult with rupees and noble intentions? Katha, which has been around since 1988, turns 15 this year and is justifiably making a big noise about it. To coincide with the anniversary, Katha has released anthologies of stories and essays on caste and gender edited by Brinda Bose and Tapan Basu; as well as Katha Prize Stories: Best of the 90s, chosen by five cinema people including Gulzar and Sharmila Tagore.

The birthday party will be in the form of an "international literary festival" from February12-15, in Delhi. There will be panel discussions, papers, awards, readings, music and dance, and an Asian Book Fair. A literary carnival, in short: be there!
