The 10,000 Club


AT a special ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on May 20, President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam received special leather-bound copies of his two best-selling books, India 2020: A Vision for the New Millennium and Ignited Minds: Unleashing the Power within India, from David Davidar, Publisher and CEO of Penguin India, marking the formal launch of Penguin India's 10,000 Club campaign.

The 10,000 Club campaign is Penguin's special initiative to celebrate its 15 years in publishing. The 10,000 Club consists of 105 books, which have all sold more than 10,000 copies. As a celebratory price promotion, Penguin is offering a third book of equal or lesser value from the 10,000 Club free with every two books purchased from the Club.

Major authors in the Club include Ruskin Bond, Bipan Chandra, Vikram Chandra, Upamanyu Chatterjee, William Dalrymple, Gurcharan Das, Shobaa Dé, Maneka Gandhi, Anees Jung, Sudhir Kakar, R.K. Laxman, Yann Martel, R.K. Narayan, Taslima Nasrin, Gita Piramal, Satyajit Ray, Arundhati Roy, Vikram Seth, Khushwant Singh, Romila Thapar, Shashi Tharoor and Mark Tully among others.
