How do planetary periods and sub-periods affect people? Is it true that Sukra Dasa will give a lot of benefit?

C.V.R. Raju, Coimbatore - 2.

BIRTH-TIME determines one's Janma Nakshatra (Birth Star). The unfolding of Maha Dasas (major periods), Bhukthis (sub-periods) and Antharas (divisions of sub-periods) is reckoned by what balance remains of the duration of the star ruling at birth. Those born under Bharani, Pooram or Pooradam, for instance, will start with Sukra Maha Dasa. How much of Sukra's 20 years remains to run is directly related to what portion remains of the birth-star's reign at birth. Whether a planet will do good or ill in its Major and Sub-periods depends on its position in the horoscope, again determined by time and place of birth.
