The Body shop lady

Anita Roddick

SHE'S got a name in almost every jet-setting parlour across the globe. With 77 million satisfied customers and many more queuing up, Anita Roddick has proved herself a businesswoman par excellence.

Her formula for success? "Always standing on the other side" But with her success Roddick has also pursued her avatar as an activist. She decided to start her business and fire a shot at making it environment friendly. She won.

"The activism has been sexy and exciting and we've used the shops to change laws on animal testing worldwide," said Roddick. She started selling her products door-to-door and notched up inch by inch the target set out. "I know many think it's crazy that a hair and skin company talks about political activism but then I'd have it no other way," said she.
