Chennai

WITH the music and dance season almost coming to a close it is now time for the intercollegiate festivals and films to take the place of honour.

Along with the annual Saarang at IIT there have been several films lined up for a Pongal release.

But while these make it to the theatres, another genre of films brings movie lovers to the Alliance Francaise, Max Mueller Bhavan and the like.

On January 21 Max Mueller Bhavan is showing "Brigitta", while two documentaries — on Kashmir, and the election status in Gujarat — will be screened at the Alliance Francaise on January 23.

Meanwhile the Russian Cultural Centre is celebrating 50 years of French cinema in a festival from January 27 beginning with "Le Beau Serge" and "Pierrot Le Fue".

The theatre scene sees a play by Anupama Chandrashekhar and directed by V. Balakrishnan staged at the MCTM school auditorium on January 30 and 31. And the ghost story reading at the Amethyst on January 24.
