A heroine

AP

A 21-year-old software engineering student, who dreamt of a conventional life, suddenly finds herself the nation's next heroine. Nisha Sharma, a typical girl-next-door who spurned the dowry demands of her groom-to-be, choosing to call the cops instead to the wedding venue, is busy receiving accolades from the politicians, the press and other sundry folks. But this spunky lady refuses to be swept by the current. "I did what I thought was the right thing. I'm not into taking nonsense from anybody and I just want to move on now." Sharma, who has had to face a battery of feminists suddenly holding her up as the new mascot for their cause, insists that she is not going to become a crusader. So even as the proposals pour in from impressed suitors, Sharma is quietly getting back to living life as before.
