All set to take centre stage

"Women can't wait" a powerful statement on gender discrimination, will be presented in a solo performance by Sarah Jones in the city on November 15 at the Music Academy.

IN A powerful statement on violence against women Sarah Jones will be here in Chennai staging a solo performance called "Women Can't Wait'' at the Music Academy on November 15 at 7 p.m. The attempt is to bring to life the impact of discriminatory laws on the daily lives of women and girls in countries around the world.
The show will be presented by CREA (Creating Resources for Empowerment in Action) as part of its public education and advocacy initiative. It was commissioned by the international women's rights organisation Equality Now and was previously performed during the United Nations International Conference for Women's Rights. Jones has also written and performed `Surface Transit,' which won the Best One-Person Show award of HBO's Aspen Comedy Arts Festival.
CREA is a `not for profit' organisation founded in the year 2000 and aims at enhancing the capacities of a new generation of women leaders using a rights-based approach. It is organising "Women Can't Wait'' for the first time in India in collaboration with Communication for Development and Learning (CDL),Bangalore, Nalamdana in Chennai, Point of View and Vacha in Mumbai, Sanhita and Swayam in Kolkata and Talking About Reproductive and Sexual Issues (TARSHI) in Delhi.
