Beauty buzz - for kids

With an air of nonchalance, the little ones sashayed into the parlour for hairstyles ranging from the classic bob to the quirky crop. The cuts were chic, and so was the place.

Setting a trend, A Cut Above, the beauty parlour in Hotel Savera (phone 8113691/8114700), launched an exclusive parlour for kids. "What?" The old-timer might frown. But face value does count in the plastic age we live in, doesn't it? Aesthetically done-up with vibrant splashes of colour, neatly arranged toys, books and goodies for kids, the hair and beauty studio is indeed a cut above!

The staff here is "specially trained to handle children with care and reassuring warmth." Services at this parlour include manicure, oiling and light massage for the hair, trendy haircuts and hairdos, oil bath etc. A special attraction is the host of face and body packs that literally turn the clock backwards by exploring grandma's time-tested concoctions that come right off the kitchen shelf.

"In the hustle and bustle of modern life, parents juggling busy work and domestic schedules hardly find time to look into the personal needs of the little ones. A Cut Above offers the child plenty of grooming options, while the parents relax," say Nina Reddy and Rathi Nilakantan, its promoters. For the restless young ones, who hate the very thought of parlour visits, A Cut Above is bound to make a difference. A mini library, graffiti boards, homemade cookies and sweets are some of the value additions to lure them.

For the children who had come to the inaugural, it was literally a time to let their hair down! A host of stalls displaying merchandise ranging from clothes to cookies were put up. While some of them indulged in face painting, others were busy walking the ramp or having a rendezvous with the magician. The glamour quotient came in the form of the celebrity kids Suraj Balaje (of "Asoka" fame) and telestar Kalyani.

A Cut Above will soon launch an exclusive club for children. Hey now, will that include lessons from the finishing school? Let's wait and see...
