Interesting play in Tamil

Nallaval, a Tamil play inspired by "The Good Person of Szechwan" by Bertolt Brecht, and directed by Nelia Veksel, Ulm (Germany), will be staged at the Dr. MGR-Janaki College for Women, Sathyabama MGR Maligai, Chennai-28, from December 18 to 21, 6.30 p.m. It is being presented by the Max Mueller Bhavan.

Translated and adapted by G.Krishnamurthy and Sivakumar, the play is one of Brecht's best works, which incidentally is relevant to the Indian ethos.

Speaking about the collaborative effort with Koothu-p-pattarai, the director says "The Good Person of Szechwan" revolves round poverty and the place of women in society among many other issues. Working with Koothu-p-pattarai has been a very special experience.

Nelia who was educated in Leningrad, studied theatre for 11 years. Nelia was invited to work with Koothu-p-pattarai three years ago. For passes, contact Max Mueller Bhavan.
