Trousseau collection

A subtle scheme with colours, impeccable workmanship and most important, a stamp of originality... that's Bandhej — the bridal gallery for you.

Launched recently on the Purasawalkam High Road, the people behind this showroom for bridal wear have about four decades of expertise in the field and a network of over 100 seasoned craftsmen. Be it sari, salwar or lehenga, there is a rich variety of fabrics to choose from. The palette is wide to suit different skin tones and the craftsmanship ranges from traditional ari to contemporary crystal.

The latest line of saris and salwars is the famed Karachi creations that come in caressing fabrics and pleasing hues. Like chikan, the handwork is delicate and the stitches are executed in shaded tones for that refined look.

Other attractions in the sari collection are the antique embroidery on heavy crepe, oxidised zardosi work, copper zardosi, Japan hakoba, festive bandini with gota work, dressy nets, crushed georgette and crystal embellished creations (from Rs.600 onwards).

Besides the regular fabrics, there is a host of innovative textures like the "Bombay Benarsi" which is fast moving because of its chic appeal and wrinkle-free qualities (Rs.1,200 onwards).

Millennium crush, lycra crush, georgettes and chiffons are some of the fancy items in the collection of salwar suits and short kurtas (both stitched and coordinated fabrics). There is also a collection of imported yardage for those who believe in designing their own clothes.

All this besides a range of superfine Bandhej saris, lehengas and dupattas.

The collection at the "bridal gallery" in terms of fabric and appeal is contemporary. But take a look at the craftsmanship, and you'd agree that seasoned skills of the past are fittingly celebrated at present.

Bandhej also takes orders for custom made saris, salwars and lehengas. It is located at City Centre, 186, Purasawalkam High Road, Kilpauk. Phone 6404929.
