An interesting dance ballet titled "AIDS, Youth and Woman" will be presented on Janaury 17 at the Chettinad Vidyashram. Choreographed by Sangeetha Isvaran, the ballet will feature disciples of Kalanidhi Narayanan, Padma Subrahmanyam, Dhananjayans and students of Kalakshetra and Koothu-P-Pattarai artistes along with the children from Vidiveli Night Tuition Centre. Anita Ratnam will be the guest artiste. Vairamuthu has penned the lyrics, while V.V. Balasai has composed the music.

For over a decade, DESH (Development Educational Society for Health) has been spearheading community service, as a forerunner in the AIDS prevention campaign in the State. Its current projects address a population of over 2,50,000 in over 20 slums in Chennai. It has set up branches in five cities in India. DESH is one of the pioneers in setting up an unlinked anonymous counselling through interactive voice response system in five cities, besides Chennai.

"AIDS, Youth and Women" is being presented to mark the completion of the organisation's decade of service to the community. Sangeetha Isvaran, a disciple of Kalanidhi Narayanan has just returned after completing a project of comparative study of the abhinaya nuances in the Ramayana presentation of Cambodia, Thailand and Indonesia.
