A SCULPTURE by well-known artist S. Nandagopal is the trophy for Sadya, a two-day adventure camp for corporate houses to be held on the beaches at Silver Sands near Mahabalipuram.
The Charity Trophy is aimed at raising funds for Vidyasagar (formerly The Spastics Society of India, Chennai), the NGO which works with people with disabilities.
The Charity Trophy, staged on February 15 and 16, includes a host of activities such as greased pole fighting, rappelling, cycle races and blindfold tent-pitching. The sculpture will be awarded to the winning team.
Nandagopal says that when he was asked to design a trophy by Vidyasagar, he wanted to depict a spirited journey towards freedom, overcoming obstacles.
Major S.R. Roy who runs Adventure Zone, an organisation which specialises in outdoor and adventure activity, will conduct the events at Sadya, which has been envisaged as an annual event.
