THE RANGE is arresting... Kalamkari table and bed linen, impeccably crafted screwpine and Pattamadai reed table mats, Chennapatna's painted wood spice jars, ladles and so on...
All these are on display at an exhibition at Dakshinachitra's Craft Shop, which opens tomorrow.
On sale will be a fresh stock of turned wood toys and other products from Ettikopakka.
Beautifully finished, the products cover a wide spectrum, from birds and animals to bowls and jars in bright colours.
The wooden spice jars, ladles and ladle holders are a great attraction along with a wide range of colourful woven palmyra boxes in different shapes and sizes.
Ideal for gifts and storage, the multi-purpose boxes make decorative statements.
Cotton dhurries from Warangal, Kalamkari bedspreads and table linen and screwpine cushions make for a contemporary look. There are pretty lace coasters and crochet lampshades too.
And for those looking for a tribal touch, the sale offers leather and wooden puppets and iron and dhokrawork lamps, figures and jewel boxes.
Dakshinachitra's Craft Shop sale will be on at Best Seller's Hall, 43/1 Besant Avenue, Adyar, on March 19 and 20.
