Chords & Notes

Dulhan Dilwale Ki (Universal, Rs. 50)

`Dulhan Dilwale Ki' is the remake of a regional hit. The songs in the Hindi version are as good as those in the original. Though the song `Jaane jaana jeena na tere bina' sticks to the original tune as far as possible, it still does not lessen the charm of the album on the whole. The other songs are equally attractive. `Dulhe ki saali, O nakhrewali', the mandatory marriage song, is quite impressive. `Hai dil dil ka yeh dhadkana' is a slow melody. The other songs include `Deewana tujhe' and `O meri bulbul tara', which is a fast number.

Swing When You're Winning - Robbie Williams (Virgin records, Rs. 135)

This album of Robbie Williams pays glorious tribute to the jazz and the rock era- - between the Sixties and the Nineties. There is Nicole Kidman and Frank Sinatra lending their sexy and sensational voices respectively. Robbie Williams himself is at his best in the number `I will walk and Hollywood will listen', where he swings his voice into a brilliant dual pitch. There is nothing stupid about `Something stupid', especially when Nicole Kidman is crooning in sync with Robbie's vocals. `It was a very good year' recreates the magic of the legendary Frank Sinatra all over again.

The five-minute he takes, makes one become nostalgic and yearn for more.
