All-go-rhythm, the three-day annual fest of the Osmania University Engineering College, was a major hit with students.

In tune with the festival.
`TWENTY-FOUR YEARS just waiting for a chance', sang the teen crowd and the occasion was `All-go-rhythm', the annual fest at the Osmania University College of Engineering. After `Oasis', the festival of BITS, Pilani, this is a major crowd puller with a record 20,000 students participating everyday in the three-day event.
"Students from IITs, IIMs, RECs and other outstation colleges come specifically for the festival to take part in Rampage - the fashion show, Blood on the Dance Floor - the choreography event, Mock PC and other events," says Suman Rao, chief coordinator and a final year student of mechanical engineering.
What is important about the annual festival is that it is solely organised by the students. Girls too participate with equal enthusiasm in various committees formed for the event.
A rangoli contest in progress.
"We want to make a statement and prove that engineering students are not only good in academics but also have creative energies which are reflected in the festival," says Sandeep, a coordinator at the fest. The art gallery said it all. Paintings on glass, portraits and charcoal sketches on contemporary, global, socio-political and economic trends went on to prove that the students are aware of things around, be it the IT scenario in the U.S. or the political developments in the State.
The fest also had a social perspective. The blood donation camp saw students participating with enthusiasm. "Last year, we had supported the cause of Gujarat earthquake relief and mobilised funds for the same. We do a lot of social work to show that we are a responsible lot," observes Rohit, another coordinator.
"This is a very emotional moment for the final year students who will be passing out in one month and moving to different parts of the country and the world - be it for the placements or for higher studies," reflects Rohit.
Students from CBIT, Vasavi College of Engineering and other colleges in the twin cities also represented their institutions. The impressive 150-bike rally on March 5 was followed by a benefit show the next day to bring awareness about the fest in the twin cities. It is no wonder, then, that the multifaceted and spirited students here are doing well in the country.
