Award for creativity
THE KALKI Sadasivam Memorial Award, this year, goes to the Hindustan Thomson Associates for the advertisement "Jampet Jaggu" (Aircell). On the selection committee were Vaidyanathaswamy (Fame Advertising), Sujatha (author and screenplay writer) and Charukesi Viswanathan (journalist). The award carries with it a cheque for Rs.10,000 and a citation.
The Kalki Sadasivam Memorial Trust was established in 1999 to perpetuate the memory of T. Sadasivam's commitment to public service.
The award for creativity and excellence in advertising was established as a tribute to Sadasivam, a pioneer in Tamil advertising. This was followed by the institution of two annual merit scholarships for students of visual communications and public relations.
To mark Sadasivam's Centenary this year, the award ceremony is followed by a multimedia profile of the man and his times. Dr. B. Ramamurthy, neurologist, will preside over the function.
There will be a special cultural programme of song, dance and drama "Manathil Uruthi Vendum", scripted and directed by Gowri Ramnarayan.
The participants are: Urmila Satyanarayana, Bombay Jayashri, N. Vijay Siva, Mullaivaasal G. Chandramouli (violin), B. Ganapathyraman (mridangam), L. Saravanan (flute), Tiruppur Krishnan and Anuradha Kannan.
The programme begins at 6.00 p.m. at Kalakshetra auditorium on March 23.
