IT IS a bold attempt by this filmmaker who focuses on issues that plague the minds of the youth and married couples as well, on matters of family life. One notable factor is that the film lays stress on the burning issue of AIDS. There is enough of explanation on this problem -- how it strikes and spreads. "HIV positive does not mean that the afflicted person will die soon," says one of the doctors who acts in the film. "It may take eight to 12 years for HIV infection to convert into AIDS, that too in the absence of right kind of treatment and intake of nutritious food. Even the disease may get cured if it is handled rightly with positive outlook. If proper care is not taken right at the time of its discovery, this may spread to the other members of the family. And the family will have to face social stigma. The film ends showing the two children of the couple, taking to streets as beggars following the death of their parents due to AIDS. "We have to eradicate this evil from society,'' says a voice in the end. The film concludes on that note.

Most of the screenplay runs in textbook pattern. Heart

attacks, irrational behaviour, complexes, post-marital disparities, eccentric behaviour and so on come into discussion. The film is more in a verbal format. The role of quacks is exposed in lighter vein. The film hardly lasts a little more than 100 minutes. The cast is a mixture of known and unknown faces. The film being mostly a mechanical narration, the element of `acting' loses importance. Music has little scope, but for filling the gaps.
