Neelambari... Tips... Rs. 28

ANY STORY with a supernatural element makes for interesting reading and when portrayed on celluloid is watchable too. Neelambari has some good lyrics set to fine tunes. Composer Rajesh Ramanath has done a good job for the lyrics penned by Vennelakanti. Malliyala manasinka palikinchava madhuvula chirujallu chilikinchava is just one example of excellent command on refined language. Ee jagame is the first song on Side A. Beauty vundi on the same side is a modern pep number. On the flip side are Ayigiri Nandini and Dindinaka, apart from the repeated version of Malliyala... Nice attempt.

Parasuram... Tips... Rs. 35

PERHAPS, HERO Srihari is following the footsteps of Mohan Babu, Balakrishna and Chiranjeevi to some extent. Maybe he believes that if the music appeals to the masses, even if it is mediocre as far as the lyrics go, the film will attract attention. While the music of Parasuram, composed by Srilekha, is attractive enough - thanks to some foot-tapping numbers - it is better not to speak about the lyrics. On side A, killing the essence of the language, are songs like Jaarindamma jaarindamma jaarupaita, Royyapulusu vunda and Tight pant vesukunte catwalk chestu vunte super ammo. Muddu vaana vachchindi and Nannu nene gillukunna, apart from Jaarindamma are the songs on the flip side. Okay to listen to in public places in loud speakers, but not at home. Better avoid.

DEVOTIONAL

Sree Krishna Darsanam... Unnikrishnan... Aditya Music... Rs. 42

THIS ALBUM is a compilation of some popular traditional kritis on Lord Krishna sung by Unnikrishnan. Well-known compositions of Vyasa Rayar (Krishna nee begane baro), Sadashiva Brahmendra (Smaravaram varam), Lalitha Dasar (Pavana Guru), Meera Bai (Krishna karo) figure in the album.

The album is not strictly in the classical genre. The rationale in compiling the kritis seems to be adhoc. Surprising omissions include Oothakadu's allaipayuthe or other compositions of Surdas and Subramaniya Bharathi. Nevertheless the album is worth listening to.
