Following the heart

Deepak and Charmi

Nee Thodu Kaavaali (TELUGU)

Cast: Deepak, Charmi, Rimmi Sen, Anuradha Pradhan

Mus: Valisha Babji and Sandeep

Dir: Bhimineni Srinivasa Rao

WHAT WILL happen if the heart of a woman, the hero loved and married, is transplanted into another woman after the sudden death of the wife. Will the second girl with the heart of the first, becomes his wife? Will there be some bond between the bereaved husband and the woman who now has his late wife's heart?

These are the points producer-director Bhimineni Srinivasa Rao deals with in this new venture. The narration of the story sounds quite positive and interesting.

Deepak plays this main role of Vasu an engineer with `rag to riches story' behind him. The entry of Manasa (Charmi) into his life changes the course of his life. First her rich father objects saying he cannot allow his daughter marry an orphan. Vasu takes it up as a challenge and by the end of a song, he becomes rich. Even then the father continues to put his foot down. Vasu simply walks away with his sweetheart and gets married in a registrar's office. But after two months of married life, his wife dies in an accident. That is also the time when another young girl is badly in need of a heart for transplantation. But Vasu just donates it to save her, without bothering who the recipient is. The recipient is one Sindhu (Rimmi Sen), granddaughter of a restaurant owner (Vizag Prasad). The story concentrates on bringing the widower and the girl together. Sindhu is not aware that the heart she received belongs to the wife of Vasu. An interesting situation is created to let this secret out and both come to know who is who. Why the director makes Sindhu feel sorry and decide to go away to another country, just to stay away from the man she loved, lacks logic. Finally the narration gets back to the expected route to give a happy end to the film.

Deepak proves to be a good actor and looks quite matured. An improvement from his last film Sampangi. He has also developed dignified and attractive mannerisms and gait which suits his role in this film. Charmi gets a smaller role compared to Rimmi Sen and yet she leaves her mark. Rimmi's portrayal of Sindhu gains momentum once the character learns whose heart she is carrying. Anuradha plays a third girl in the life of hero, but just as a friend. Gautham Raju, in the lighter role of a forgetful assistant of Vasu proves a potential actor. Music by new pair of composers Valisha Babji and Sandeep, elevates the drama to aesthetic levels.
