It's Viva folks!

THE CHANNEL V created girl band has finally chosen the name Viva to describe itself. If images of a health drink instantly come to mind, banish them. Instead, think of girls who are young and healthy, but slowly having all rebellion and individuality knocked out of them by an array of specialist image makers - hairstylists, physical trainers, sound recordists - the whole range. While the earlier episodes of the Channel V Pop Star Hunt were so entertaining because they captured the exuberance and energy of youth, the later episodes are paeans to conformity, with the five girls tamely submitting to every conceivable attempt to `polish' them and make them like every other girl band across the globe. Pratichee Mahapatra's father suggested the name, celebrating life, but if the all-clones band churns out indifferent music, discerning viewers and listeners could very soon make the band sound `Morda'.
