"EVERY OUTFIT is a victory for me," says Vinita Pittie and judging by the creativity and hard work which goes into a garment it sure calls for celebration. Vinita Pittie is one of the well-known designers of Hyderabad (with a select clientele), yet she has never exhibited here. The exhibition to be held at `also' (White House, next to Lifestyle) today and tomorrow will be her first show.

Vinita Pittie's passion and energy is reflected in her clothes which are in a riot of colours. "I am a raging fire, fond of reds " and surely this echoes in her vibrant colour palette comprising the dark and the pastel shades. Her penchant for colour enables her to mix and match combinations which may seem unimaginable to many.

What sets her clothes apart from the colour are the fabrics and embellishments. She coutures the simplest of fabrics into stunning creations. She makes a careful choice of fabric sourced from Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh or Bangalore. At times she gets it woven under her own instructions. The embellishments like beads, sequins, mirrors and other knick-knacks too are picked up anywhere. But it is the Indianness, more particularly the Hyderabadi touch, which stands out. An important feature is the personal touch.

SPARKLING DIAMANTES: Embellishments define the line.

Vinita's skill is evident in every operation - right from the selection of fabric, to dyeing, printing to drawing the motifs which are unusual. Her forte lies in creating a new garment everyday. She is as mad about white as she is about colour. "The unbleached fabric excites me as much," she says. And she even makes the blocks which are used for printing.

For the show at `also' she says "I have put my heart and soul." The clothes are elegant and flashy, simple yet stylish and maybe even funky. Bright hues and embellishments characterise them. From dark rusts, purples, shocking pinks and yellows, tomato red to sea-greens, whites, pale pinks to sky blue - Vinita has just about made heads turn at the colour combinations. There are subtle shaded ones too for those looking out for pleasant colours.

Short kurtas, long kurtas, trousers, short tops to even sarongs will be exhibited at the boutique. The fabrics chosen are silk chiffons, silk (porous variety - looks like jute), raw silk (specially woven for Vinita Pittie by Ghanshyam Sarode), georgette and cottons. The embroidery is unique - the motifs as well as the stitches are worth a look.

BLOW YOUR MIND: The clothes are elegant and flashy

The garments and saris are heavily embellished with all kinds of coloured sequins and beads besides embroidery (badla, gota and many more).

Vinita does not believe in using Swarovski crystals. Since the creations are ornate they are ideally suited for party/evening wear. However, there are a few pieces like sarong skirts with tops and skirts which can be draped in innovative ways depending on the ingenuity of the wearer. There is an Andhra dhoti beautifully printed which can be used as a dupatta over trousers or even as a shawl over a sari. Vinita's maxim is to make something affordable as she realised the value of money as a young girl and therefore her creations defy the laws of marketing and production. Anybody who wears Vinita Pittie's handcrafted clothes is sure to make a style statement.
