Lining up for the Oscars

NINE MONTHS away, and the Academy Awards are already being speculated about. Hugh Grant has emerged as a strong candidate. The British star has never been nominated so far. But Hollywood buzz is that 2003 could be lucky for Hugh and Australian star Toni Collette, who appeared together in the romantic British comedy, "About A Boy'. New releases "Insomnia" and "Minority Report" are currently top of the list of possible winners of the Best Picture Oscar.

According to Hollywood trade magazine, Variety, many people believe the race for the 75th Academy Awards won't really begin until the Sam Mendes and Tom Hanks film, "The Road To Perdition", has had a chance to gross big bucks and enthral viewers.

Other possibilities in the Best Picture category include "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers", "Gangs of New York" and even EMINEM'S acting debut, "8 Mile".
