The play's the thing

Get ready for an evening of laughs at Satya Sai Nigamagamam on July 28 when `Oh No! Not Again,' a hilarious comedy directed by Bharat Dabholkar, the man behind India's most successful English play, `Bottoms Up', is going to be staged.

ON CUE: A scene from `Oh No! Not Again.'

WHILE THE rain gods refuse to smile, a different kind of monsoon reigns in the city - the theatrical kind. Kicked off with God's Favourite by the venerable DCH, the city has played host to the delightful I'm Not Bajirao by the theatre group Rage and the experimental Curfew and Combat by Working Title.

Here is another opportunity to tickle your funny bone with Oh No! Not Again, written and directed by Bharat Dabholkar, the man behind that other laugh riot, Bottoms Up. The play spoofs everything and everybody from divorce and bride selection to hijack and politics.

SAVVY SPOOF: A hilarious take on everything and everyone.

Social satires, comedy, ad jingles interspersed with dances, spooky English musical hits and Hindi film songs come together in a series of small skits on stage. The play is interactive in that the audience gets to choose a skit from among their past favourites. A tick on the coupon is dropped in the box and after the interval, the audience get to see the skit that has polled the highest.

Oh No! Not Again is brought to the city by Akankssha Charitable Trust and would be staged at Satya Sai Nigamagamam on July 28. The cast includes Bharat Dabholkar, Bhavna Balsaver, Kishore, Atul Parchure and Vijoo Khote (remember Kaalia, who had eaten namak from sarkar's hands and then had to eat goli?) Tickets in the denominations of Rs 500, Rs 300 and Rs 150 will be available at Walden, Dr Rasshme's Clinic (opposite Barista on Road No 1 Banjara Hills) and Solus Media in Basheerbagh. Tickets will also be available online on www.hyderabadbazaar.com.
