Joruga Husharuga... Supreme... Rs. 35
AFTER MANO, new singer Rajesh's voice sounds quite similar to that of veteran singer S.P. Balasubrahmaniam. This gets reflected in the first song of the album Naa manasu needani, a slow romantic song. And, in tune with the trend of using an old melody in a new film, Joruga Husharuga has evergreen melody as its title song. However, unlike in Khushi where the song Aadavari maatalaku arthale verule used the original lyrics in a remix version, in Joruga husharuga shikaaru podama, new lyrics are juxtaposed with the old melody's lyrics - a la Prema yaatralaku brindavanamu... in Detective Narada. The other songs in the album are average number with the necessary ingredients to cater to all kinds of listeners. Jaajula jallullo is another attractive number on Side B. Manisarma's score is, thus, quite effective in capturing the youngsters' attention.

Kuch Dil Ne Kaha... T-Series... Rs. 55
WISH MUSIC makers realise that routine tunes and run-of-the-mill lyrics cannot lift the face value of an album. Meri neend churale, the first song in the album Kuch Dil Ne Kaha comes under the ordinary category. It reminds one of the opening tune of Tujhe dekha to ye jaana sanam (DDLJ), followed by Meri nazar ke samne aake which, though slightly different, is another take-off from the same number. Incidentally, this is veteran composer late Anand Bakshi's last contribution to the Hindi cinema. One asset of the album: Udit Narayan's voice. Neend aati hai is a good number in an otherwise ordinary album.
Waah! Tera Kya Kehna... Universal... Rs. 45
THE LATEST film Waah..! tera kya kehna is in the same line as other Govinda films. The music is not top notch, the lyrics, at least some of them, are indeed absurd. Jatin-Lalit's music is forgettable.
Out of the seven songs none stand out in terms of tune. As far as humour goes Halloo Halloo and Karele ki shaadi stand out. Karele... is somewhat new because most of the vegetables figure in the lyrics - while tune wise, nothing much to write about.
Govinda's fans can rejoice as their hero sings in I want money. The title song, is rather `qawwalish'. This warrants just one hearing and one can happily forget about it.
ENGLISH
Escape... Enrique Iglesias... Universal... Rs. 125
THE LATINO heartthrob is back with yet another serving of rhythm divine in his new album Escape. Enrique Iglesias sure knows the pulse of his audience offering them just the same, a full-bodied performance on the visual and a matching soulful music- a soft rock base in sync with his expressive vocals.
The title track is soulful and laced with an element of melancholy. Yet another track that is doing rounds and firing up discos worldwide is Love to see you cry. This number shows some excellent acoustic guitar by Adam Phillips. While the track Hero has already captured the hearts of the young with its lilting lyrics and simple good music.
If the world crashes down is a track to lend an ear to on Side Two. The album has a dash of Spanish at Escapar, No Apagues la luz and Heroe.
The Hero (Metromix) is sure to lift your spirits. This album features sunny tracks such as Love 4 fun, She be the one, Maybe and I will survive. And sure he will, what with his record sales doing splendid worldwide.
Episode2... Safri Duo... Universal... Rs. 100
THE ALBUM from the Danish Uffe Savery and Morten Friis popularly known as the Safri Duo, takes you on a roller coaster voyage that is a mix of trance, pop and techno supported by some great work at percussions. Starting with the track Played-a-live, termed the club hit of the year, the album progresses to a heady techno groove Snakefood. A-Gusta is a soulful composition in the melancholy mood that is followed by a feel-good and racy radio cut Sam-Adagio, which again exhibits the raw energy at percussions. Baya Baya is yet another of their tracks, which is doing exceeding well on the music charts at all its versions here. Adagio shows a soulful rendition on the violin, viola and cello with the contrabass.
The album has an element of music that takes you on a higher plane of thinking and enables one to use your own imagination and create your individual images such as at the number Everything. Also, the collection shows an excellent mix of string, percussion and modern sounds.
With over 1.7 million and singles sold worldwide, the Safri Duo are sitting cushy on numero uno position at world music charts in the techno-trance genre. Episode 2 is a must-have album for the party people especially for the rhythmic numbers Played-A-Live (The Bongo Song/Nick Sentience Mix), Samb-Adagio (Airscape Remix) and the Darude vs JS16 Mix of Played-A-Live.
