Fit for a bride

Designer duo Erum Ali and Harpreet Narula recently launched their bridal line in the city.

IT'S RICH. It's haute. It's Erum Ali at her creative best. Chennai-ites got glimpses of the newly launched bridal and trousseau collection of Erum Ali and Harpreet Narula at a fashion show held in the city this past week.

Each of the creations had a timeless appeal. In stunning red, brilliant blue, turquoise, rich burgundy and earthy green, the collection smacked of originality. Saris, lehenga-cholis and Indo-westerns vied for attention.

Sequined or embellished with stone and zari, the saris came in the traditional Benares and contemporary chiffons and crepes. The Indo-westerns in georgette teamed with tissue in sand and stone colours, black and ivory created a dramatic effect.

The bridal range has been inspired by Mughal architecture as is evident in the motifs. In luxurious brocade, sheer georgette and traditional silk, the creations were enchanting. Off-white with navy blue and royal red, amethyst with yellow, orange and pink... the striking and unusual colour schemes lent an old world charm to the collection.

The piece de resistance was the ravishing Simran, who modelled an electric blue and turquoise creation.

Says Erum Ali, "It was attempt to make available bridal wear for Chennai-ites. Incidentally, there were no models from Mumbai."

The creations are available at 38/39, North Boag Road, T. Nagar, ph: 8155564/ 4423887.
