"Matti Manishi" a rage

"Matti Manishi", the mega serial starring evergreen hero of Telugu films, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, has created a new wave in the television industry. Unlike the dubbing serials, which are flooding the Telugu channels, this one comes as a breath of fresh air, which is evident from the tremendous response to the 16 episodes, which have been telecast so far, says its director, Pradeep.

Pradeep, who is also a film and TV actor, and the stars of Matti Manishi were in the city on Saturday to participate in an entertainment programme "Ananda Lahari" organised at Gurazada Kalakshetram.

The serial, produced on the banner `United Friends' has introduced Akkineni to the small screen for the first time. Apart from film and television artistes, 15 stage artistes are acting in the serial. The story revolves round the life of a boy who was born in an ordinary agriculturist's family, comes up through hard work and attains great heights to become an example for others, Pradeep told a media conference.

The absence of Akkineni, who failed to attend the media conference due to personal reasons, was made good by mimicry artiste, Srinivas, who imitated his dialogues from a few films and the serial.

Later, in the evening, the stars of the serial, Chandramohan, Ashok, Kadambari Kiran, Anant, Ram Jagan, Kinnera, Anita Chowdary, Raagini and Shilpa Chakravarthy, guest star and comedian Gundu Hanumantha Rao and others participated in the culturual programme "Ananda Lahari" organised at Gurazada Kalakshetram.
