Revolving doors at Balaji Telefilms

EKTA KAPOOR'S long-running serials are now showing a high human turnover with several principal characters from serials such as `Kkusum' and `Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' disappearing into thin air.

Dadaji (Sudhir Dalvi) of `Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' could find no place in the scheme of things in the young format of the show, which ironically is still full of elderly characters in most scenes. Mona (Mandira Bedi) is nowhere to be seen in the same serial anymore, but has few regrets as she is working on a comedy with Vijay Raaz, the actor who played a memorable role in `Monsoon Wedding', to be aired on Sony TV.

Shweta Kwatra from `Kkusum' is another casualty. Shweta's grandfather expired and she wanted to rush home to Delhi for six days, but was not allowed to do so. "I would have definitely continued if I had been let off for those six days without a hitch," revealed Shweta recently. Her departure is also said to have been preceded by a heated argument over the phone with Ekta Kapoor. Guess the head that rules a TV empire must also wear a crown of thorns.
