No stranger to prison

Salman Khan now rubs shoulders with criminal offenders in a common cell. But he knows what it is like to be in prison (having spent time in a Jodhpur lock-up after killing the endangered black buck).

If a film actor, who has earned crores, displays this kind of familiarity with courts, conviction and prison cells, it is a stark commentary on how film stars seem to occasionally lack both common sense and decency.

More and more damning details of Salman's approach to life are being revealed as the investigation proceeds. It appears that he does not possess a driving licence, has acquired the killer Toyota Land Cruiser from questionable sources, possibly as a `benami' property, and that his family and friends saw it fit to offer bribes to eyewitnesses to ask them to hush up, rather than offer any comfort and compensation to Salman's victims. Can any ordinary citizen display the same disregard for the RTO, FERA and human life, and get away with it?
