Roses are red, so is hair
Looks are also about hair
IF YOU think you are hip and in vogue with a straight cut, a blunt, or a step cut, then you should think twice. For the fashion in the "hair industry" is not about cuts that give one a neat and clean look, but it is all about having one's hair cut in an uneven manner and styling it in an unconventional way. And when it comes to trends, Bangalore is not far behind and right on cue to "capture that young market". Schwarkopf Professional has launched a range of new products for hair care.
So, the Technical Manager, Arpana Gambhir, was in the City to conduct a three-day workshop for the hairstylists. The event was marked to launch the company's latest range called Essential Looks.
Talking to her reveals that henna is no longer considered the sole colouring or conditioning agent as "it just damages the hair". Instead of the humble henna, the market is dominated with a variety of hair colouring products. If you have a single colour such as red, orange, or auburn, then you might just be considered old-fashioned. For now having a head with multiple coloured streaks is in vogue. "It is not just make-up that makes an individual look good. In fact everything from the face, haircut, and clothes enhance your personality. So, depending on a look that an individual prefers the colour and the cut is determined," she says and adds that red, copper, and violets are the colours of the season, as "they blend perfectly with the Indian skin colour and tone".
But does the hair not get damaged using these artificial colours? "No. The colour is used on the hair and not the scalp, of course, post care is important. We have shampoos and conditioners that not only add shine and volume to your tresses, but even moisturise and condition them. Our products are available only at salons. There are also personnel to train you to use them." So, don't be surprised if a youngster in the family turns up with blonde and violet streaks in his/her hair.
