Drive to Disaster - Pollution on city roads

Ban burning garbage

A total ban on burning garbage, be it road, field or dumping ground must be imposed. Heavy smoke emitting vehicles could be suspended from plying on roads until it is declared fit. The public must be encouraged to send complaints and bring to the notice of officials, the true picture of the kind of pollution without hesitation. This would help authorities to understand and act on the problems in an easier way. TNPCB must have small booths, like the police to accept complaints. The "Flying Green Squad' phone 2200411 must accept complaints without giving reasons on jurisdiction.
