Pamper the Punjabi way

The Punjabi food festival at Promenade in Aditya Park Inn offers a chance to savour the robust cuisine from the Land of Five Rivers.

ROBUST CUISINE: A choice of over thirty dishes.
PUNJABI CUISINE like Chinese cuisine is a part of the national gustatory conscience. Even before Bend It Like Beckham, Aloo Gobi and parathas not to mention Sarson Da Saag and Makkai di Roti had made themselves at home in the national lexicon.
Those who timidly admitted to not quite caring for Makkai di Roti were sternly told that it was an acquired taste and that they should jolly well acquire it ASAP. For the paratha people and for those who would like to have another shot at the makkai di roti, the place to head for is the Aditya Park Inn (6788888) at Ameerpet.
The Flavours of the Punjab, a Punjabi food festival, is being held at the swanky Promenade at Aditya Park Inn. Sher da puttar Dharmendra (his truck driver from Pratigya) would feel very much at home at the Promenade.
Welcomed by people sporting the colourful traditional Punjabi attire, one's eye takes in the village well, the cart and of course the film posters. And then the eye follows the dictates of the nose and stomach and heads straight for the buffet table that is loaded with lip-smacking goodies from the land of five rivers.
GO CARTING: The rustic ambience adds to the charm.
From the kitchen of Chef Ranjit Singh (flown down specially from Ludhiana) comes a whole range of delicious eats. Starters include Ganne Ka Ras; Samosa, and Lassi; main course offerings include Sarson Ka Saag, Lauki di Kofta, Mooli Ki Bhurjia, Kasturi Murg, Tangdi Masala and Bhuna Ghost. You could have the main course with Murg or Kheema Pulao or go the whole hog and indulge in some piping hot parathas.
A live counter offers a choice of Mooli, Gobi and Paneer Parathas. And Kulfi and Pista Barfi represent the sweet side. Chef Ranjit Singh ensures the authentic taste by bringing most of the ingredients from the Punjab.
"The focus is on family," comments F&B manager Jagannath. "Now is holiday time, time for festivities and fun, that is why we decided on a Punjabi food festival."
For Rs 222, you are entitled for a complimentary Patiala peg or a non-alcoholic welcome drink.
The festival that boasts of over thirty mouth-watering dishes (the menu is changed everyday) is on from 7 pm to 12 midnight till October 20.
