Chords & Notes

Pranayathinte Devaragangal

Swaram, Rs. 55

The magic of G.Devarajan's music never seems to fade. The ten romantic songs in this album are testimony of his genius. Age has not diminished the quality of his tunes. There is one song in this album beginning `Thamarapookalum... ' which was rendered by K.J.Jesudas long back. This is a typical Vayalar-Devarajan composition, melodious and haunting at every turn. Then there are the recent ones rendered by the young finds like Vijesh Gopal, Vidhu Pratap and Dr. Rashmi Madhu, which amply demonstrate that Devarajan's music is ageless. P.Jayachandran, Madhuri and Kallara Gopan are the other singers in this album. Take note of the young voices, especially Vijesh Gopal.

Sasneham..Dasettan

Crescendo, Rs. 50

Putting together the timeless melodies of K.J.Jesudas is perhaps a tough job. The list grows each day. Most of the collections focus on the golden oldies, with most of the gems from the middle phase of his career going unnoticed. This album puts together ten super hit film songs from the master. They include some of the popular ones like `Vaalkannezhuthiya... ' (Paithrukam), `Olikunnuvo... ' (Chambakulam Thachan) to the less popular, but equally melodious ones like `Shubhayatra... ' (Akashadoot) and `Manikathir... ' (Puthran). A fine mix.
