Sunshine at sun-down...

Amir Nensey.

WITH DELHI'S satellite city Gurgaon coming up with fancier and fancier houses and apartments to fit into the need-list of the rich and the mighty, here's an "exclusive" plan of action to add to the rising skyline. All set to be finished for occupancy next year-end, the plan is for a retirement village, claimed to be the first of its kind in the country for senior citizens based on international standards.

To be developed by Royal Palms, a Mumbai-based construction company, the village, primarily targeted at Non-Resident Indians in the age group of 50 years and above, would be an answer to those elderly people who want to live an independent life, amid people of the same age.

Says Royal Palms Chairman Amir Nensey, "We have tied up with experts from the Retirement Living Services from Australia to provide consultation after studying various age care models in that country. Also, we will hire landscape team and interior consultants from Thailand. The first such village would come up in Gurgaon, followed by one in Bangalore and Mumbai."

The promised amenities include slip-resistant tiles, glare-free lighting, wheelchair accessible showers, perception-enhancing colour schemes, easy tracking curtains, sliding doors, ergonomic chairs and railings throughout the walls, etc. The village would have general amenities like doctor's consulting room, an in-house ambulance, low-jerk, long-seized elevator system equipped with stretcher, etc, bus for outings, meditating rooms, restaurants, meal service with certified chefs for special dietary requirements, daily house-keeping service including dusting, cleaning and laundry besides the usual 24-hour safety and emergency services call system.

Offering four options to customers, the company plans fully-furnished - that includes kitchen appliances like microwaves, refrigerators, dishwasher, washing machine and cooking range, etc - studio apartments to three-bedroom flats, starting from the range of Rs. 15 lakh. This leaves nothing to doubt that the option will be one for only the aging rich, though the company insists that it will be an affordable option that would deliver a complete value for money.

Those game for it can await newspaper advertisements soon.
