The 'K' factor

KAMAL HASSAN is always ready to take risks. But of late, his risk taking ventures have backfired and today his detractors are shouting from the rooftop that he has reached the end of the road. Kamal is however made of sterner stuff and the actor is determined to stage yet another comeback with his new film "Anbe Sivam", which is said to be inspired by the 1987 comedy film "Planes Trains and Automobiles", starring Steve Martin and John Candy. It is a road film where two people from different background meet, but end up hating each other. Madhavan plays an upmarket savvy NRI from the U.S. who is back in India to get married to Kiran. Kamal Hassan, a former PWG sympathiser and a theatre activist was Kiran's former lover. Madhavan misses his flight, boards a train and meets Kamal Hassan who is a blabbermouth and is his constant companion throughout this harrowing journey. Kamal is rumoured to have a new look for the film with a broken face split right in the middle, soda bottle glasses and broken tooth! The scenes where the garrulous Kamal Hassan irritates the suave and self-obsessed NRI, Madhavan is sure to bring the house down. Meanwhile, forgetting their differences, Mani Ratnam and Kamal Hassan have been holding hush-hush meetings to work out a possible project. Fifteen years after that classic "Nayakan", Mani and Kamal are trying to rework their old magic. Today is Kamal Hassan's birthday and let's wish him all the best and pray that "Anbe Sivam" works wonders at the box office.
