One for fitness

Wilson Chik from Hong Kong conducted a martial arts inspired training programme for Reebok instructors.

KNOCK OUT: Wilson Chik shows the way.

FITNESS IS the mantra today. An aerobic routine ensures a healthy heart while strength training is the key to keep those muscles toned. The confidence a fit body brings with it is an added bonus. A regular spa regime is essential today considering our sedentary lifestyles with its complementary stress and obesity.

"Rapid strides in technology have brought in changes in lifestyles. You take the elevator when you can actually take the stairs and eat fast foods instead of home cooked food, fresh fruits and vegetables and this is a global trend," says Wilson Chik, Reebok Master Trainer from Hong Kong, who was in town recently to conduct Rep Reebok, a certificate training programme for the Reebok trainers in the twin cities.

Talking about the programme Chik said, "It is a martial arts inspired programme where we teach 14 core movements and the set of guidelines and protocols for effective execution of martial arts movements.

The instructors will incorporate these as part of their regular training here," says Chik, who incorporates tai chi, karate and kinesology in his mind-body well being programme.

A high-energy training in balance, speed and rhythm, the programme incorporates traditional kicks and punches and also focuses on major muscle groups for functional strength and flexibility.

NEW ROUTINE: The training programme in progress.

The Reebok trained instructors will be taking the training to their aerobic classes.

"The dynamic movements will add to the variety of regular workouts making them more interesting," says Shobha of Shapers Studio (Ph: 4655512) where the six-hour programme was conducted. Contact the nearest Reebok centre for more information on Rep Reebok fitness.
