A connoisseur's delight
The two-day exhibition of prints and slides organised by the Waltair Photographic Society was the connoisseur's delight. The expo showcased select reproductions from the all-India competition organised by the society earlier this year.
The competition was held in five categories - monochrome, colour prints, colour slides, nature prints and nature slides. In all, 387 entries were accepted and awards and merit certificates were given in each of the categories separately, according to the society president, K. Saraswathi Rao, and secretary, S.V.S. Ravi Kumar.
A blue kingfisher with feed in its beak and a tusker severing a branch of a tree in the wild and a pelican flying away with its catch were some of the pictures which caught the imagination of the viewers. The first prizes in different categories were bagged by C.R. Satyanarayana (Nature slides), best portrait - Sunit Kapadia (monochrome prints), best local entrant - M.V. Narasinga Rao (colour prints) and in the pictorial slides, Amit P. Kale won the first prize for his `monsoon effect'.
The exhibition concluded on Sunday.
