Health is wealth
Superintendent of Police Atul Singh interacting with his men.
A sound mind in a sound body goes the adage. Can anyone suffering from ill-health do justice to his profession? Realising the need for proper health care of his men, Superintendent of Police, Atul Singh, launched a week-long healthcare awareness programme for the district police personnel at the Police grounds at Kailasagiri recently.
A team of doctors from Apollo Hospitals examined the police personnel at the camp. The health profiles of the personnel would be prepared and the details computerised, says the S.P. The profiles would be useful in identifying the incidence of various diseases and to conduct specialised medical camps accordingly.
The department would issue photo identity cards to the rural police personnel visiting the district head quarters for medical treatment. The issue of identity cards would be completed by November end.
The policemen were also given rifle training, protection of police stations, detection of landmines and claymore mines and the precautions to be taken and in tackling the naxalite menace.
For the first time in the state, the personnel were given access to their service records. They were given a chance to go through their own records and know their strong and weak points. If the personnel find any of their achievements omitted in the records, they could provide the details to the higher ups in writing for inclusion.
