Plants for good health

V.C. Nataraj practises plant therapy to treat a variety of ailments.

HE LOOKS rustic every inch of the frame. He converses mostly in Tamil and by his own admission, has no formal education, least of all in medicine or any science.
But, the Salem-based V.C. Nataraj claims to have discovered what he terms `plant therapy' to treat all ailments and illnesses, except emergencies.
In an apparent extension of J.C. Bose's findings, Nataraj says, "plants in addition to laughing or crying also excrete much like human beings. However, the excreta is not visible to the naked eye but is extremely useful/helpful in ensuring a disease free life."
According to Nataraj's plant therapy, every plant/tree can be classified as either "absorbing, reflective or magnifying in nature."
"These plants must be so placed outside the bedroom when at night the plant energy gets released and enters the human (respiratory) system and completes the process of cleansing the system."
The process of identifying the plant that matches the person is somewhat long drawn.
The thumb impression of the person is obtained and there from the blood circulation is analysed (The blood circulation inside the system of the person is supposedly unique to the person and is so from the 180th day of pregnancy).
"Once the blood circulation system of the person is reckoned, a suitable plant will be suggested that will relieve the person of the malady," says Nataraj. And when a person has health, he has all wealth.
Explaining how the plant therapy actually works, Nataraj says, "there are 21 chemical plants or chemical factories inside our body. When any of these chemical plants malfunctions inside the body, illness occurs."
"By my therapy, I am able to identify the malfunction of the organ inside the body and prescribe a plant/tree to set right the malfunction."
"By breathing the air (together with the excreta of the plant generated) the malady gets rectified. The body temperature is maintained and the blood gets purified."
He illustrates further, "people use mango leaves on auspicious occasions like marriages because they release energy and promote health and liveliness. When people visit Tirupati, and offer their hair, they must realise that they are surrounded by thousands of medicinal plants in the hills and the energy released by them enters through the pores in the pate."
Nataraj claims to have `treated' many people who have later on become celebrities in the political and tinsel worlds.
He now hopes to have a patent for his therapy, before some westerner does so.
"We have already lost turmeric and neem," he says. Once proved scientifically, Nataraj also hopes to make a claim for a Nobel Prize.
