Cool stuff for hot days...
WITH SPRING round the corner and summer soon to follow, it's time for designers to come out with their latest creations. The designer duo of Shantanu and Nikhil, known for their vibrant shades specially for the young, unveiled their spring/summer collection at Hyatt Regency in New Delhi recently.
What's new this season? Well, this time it is all for girls and for the first time, the duo have come out with Western wear which they say are in innovative, bright colour combinations that impart a party look while being suitable for formal wear in offices too!
Boasting over 70 designs, the collection has four categories. Checkmate is dominated by large checks cut at different angles. These are light blue checks having white collar and cuff to give a formal look, wearable in offices too. The Polka line has red dots on a white base, a combination they call naughty and a little unexplored. The Linen and Chiffon line is ornamented with frills and flares consisting of embroidered butterflies on a blue base. This, the duo inform, is more a Western concept, largely European.
Then there is the Black and White line, inspired by "masculine fabrics in ice blue lowers" with white tops. The skirts have short hemlines and are combined with sleeveless tops. They have used crushed linen for the purpose - something which is not used for formal wear, but the treatment given to them in colour combinations would help the wearer use it for both occasions. They say it is affordable - priced between Rs. 1200 and 4800.
