Hype and hoopla
ZAYED KHAN is the new Khan who is making waves on the eve of the release of his highly hyped debut in "Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne".
The boy has the right connections, son of Sanjay Khan and brother-in-law of Hrithik Roshan. The savvy Zayed has been able to get the limelight focussed on him, and has featured prominently on page three in most upcountry newspapers.
Last week at a party thrown by Esha Deol, his co-star in the film, at a Mumbai pub some sozzled NRIs smashed his head, when he tried to prevent them from misbehaving with her. Zayed ended up with three stitches on his head but got the right media mileage, which has suddenly made "Chura Liyaa" a hot film in the trade.
Apparel company Pantaloons and Hindi newspaper Dainik Jagran are jointly producing the film.
It is the media company's first foray into the entertainment world, and Sangeet Sivan, younger brother of Santosh Sivan, directs the film.
According to Sangeet: "My film is a musical thriller and it is sure to make Zayed the new pin-up boy among teenagers." Due to the positive buzz about the film, India's oldest distribution company Rajshri Pictures has taken the countrywide distribution rights.
