Keeping kids busy


WORRIED ABOUT keeping your children busy during the holidays? Summer camps are here to help you out.

The Harrington House School's Summer Festival starting from April 21 to May 9 will keep children in the three to 10 age group engaged in activities such as singing, dancing, craft, origami, indoor and outdoor games, karate and lots more (depending on the age group). For children with an artistic streak or those who are interested in messing around with paints, Artz 2003 is the place to be. `Artz' is a three-week camp aimed at bringing out the dormant artistic talent in children between the ages of 5 and 12 years. Glass, fabric and pot painting will be taught apart from plastering and creating artefacts out of junk. For those interested, knitting and embroidery will also be taught. The last three days of the camp will focus on confidence building and personality development. The camp starts on April 14 and will continue till May 4. Kid's Fest 2003 conducted by Virgo Hobby Centre is for children between 3 to 12 years of age. The camp is intended to make them confident. Spoken English, communication skills, personality development, karate, yoga, dance, slokas, gift bag and box making, art and craft etc., are some of the activities covered. Summer Skills 2003 held at D.A.V Senior Secondary School comprises classes in Spoken English, creative story telling, art, craft, origami, glass, tiles, pots and fabric painting, dance, music, karate, and yoga in addition to swimming, cricket, computer and personality development programmes. Sishlok is conducting a camp on life sciences for children between the age group of six and 13 years at Hotel Sindoori (near Central Station) from April 14 to 20. Founded by Rama Ravee Titti, a tutor in classical dance, The Shiksha Garden Club located in Virugambakkam conducts summer camps for children in yoga, western dance, slokas, bhajans, drawings, crafts and games. The club is also coming up with introductory classes in tabla, dholak, bongo and kongo drums. Though targeted mainly at children between five and 15 years, there are special classes for adults too.
