The awards to meritorious journalists and production houses will be handed over on May 3.

SRI RAGHAVENDRA Chitravani is the oldest public relations organisation in Kannada cinema and perhaps the only professionally run firm that has helped foster interaction between the industry and the media. The 26-year-old Chitravani has liaised between the two for a record 750 films.
To mark its silver jubilee last year, Sri Raghavendra Chitravani announced the institution of annual awards to veteran journalists and production houses of merit. D.V. Sudhindra, who heads the organisation, said another award would be presented from this year in the name of late D.R. Seshadri, director of the runaway hit, Yajamana, starring Vishnuvardhan.
Sri Eshwari Productions wins this year's award for best production house, being one of the oldest in Kannada filmdom with over 50 years' standing.
Among journalists, the veteran P.G. Srinivasamurthy gets the award, having been in the field of Kannada journalism since the early '50s.
A recipient of the Karnataka Sangeeta Nritya Academy Award for best art critic, he was the Chief Editor of the Kannada section of the United States Information Service in Chennai, besides being a correspondent for Prajavani. Vijaya Chitra and Vanita were the other magazines he wrote for on cinema. At present, he writes music reviews for Kannada Prabha and on films for other Kannada publications.
The D.R. Seshadri Award for best director goes to Sunil Kumar Desai, an acknowledged name in the industry for his refined and innovative films, his Beladingala Baale, and Nammoora Mandara Hoove being just two of his more recent offerings that won critical acclaim.
The awards function will be held at the Bangalore Gayana Samaja on May 3.
