Curls for a cool look
|
Most women keep changing their hairstyle for a different look, perming being the most common one. It makes straight hair wavy or curly.

IT IS holiday time and most of us are getting ready to travel or stay at home and catch up with all the things we wanted to do but never found the time... such as getting a different look. And when you decide to get that different look, the first thing you think of is your hair.
Today, long permed hair or curls are the in thing. One can see most models and TV stars going in for it. This article is all about perming.
Perming is the term given to the physical and chemical processing of straight hair that will change into curls or waves.
There are various perming techniques. Throughout history, people have experimented with their hair in an attempt to look more beautiful. Changing straight hair to curly or curly hair to straight, have alternated in popularity for centuries.
Perming is also known as permanent waving or curling. Some methods use heat; but the most popular technique is cold perming or CPW.
Unlike the curls produced by setting and blow-drying, the curls produced by perming are permanent. The hair does not straighten even when it absorbs water from the atmosphere.
These days perms are professionally designed for the active-on-the-go lifestyle as well as to suit different hair structures. Perm lotions are now available for a wide range of hair conditions from coloured, thick to smooth hair. Any perm can make hair curly; but a good perm requires the expertise of a professional beautician. Their knowledge and experience are essential to determine exactly what technique is required to get the right look.
Hair perming can be done for long or short hair and is popular with both the young - for style and not so young for more body. Besides, the advantages of permed hair are many. A well-finished perm offers adaptability and versatility. Many a times, when we admire hair with lots of body and bounce, we hardly realise it is the perm that has done it.
Some Dos and Don'ts:
*Do not perm your hair if you have abrasions or irritation in the scalp, as the perm lotion is a chemical and can aggravate.
*Do not perm your hair immediately after colouring as the perm lotion will remove the colour.
*If your hair is in a poor condition and you are losing hair, perming is not advised.
*Do not shampoo your hair at least for 24-48 hours after perming.
*If you suffer from allergies, always do a test curl.
